DotM: Hitting the Wall Again
Mar. 14th, 2008 12:45 amSo, my current self-appointed task in writing DotM is to go through the Senses spreadsheet and put down what might be sensed about any given character.
mnemex should then go through it to add and subtract things, as he's the one writing that system, and then everyone else.
Only, then, I started realizing that Items may need their own spreadsheet for this. And then, that things sensed in a weekend long larp might change, and that could be such a gm nightmare and player annoyance.
And then, I got confused about what the heck the senses system is supposed to do and how it works, and kind of whimpered about having to program every item into the world.
So, mnemex pointed out that there are other people involved in creating this, and maybe I should delegate, because thinking I have to write all drafts of all character sheets and fill in all the data on all spreadsheets all by myself is a good way to burn out.
I told mnemex that I'm delegating the delegating to him. It is now officially his job to find out what
batyatoon and
ladymondegreen can do, or at least, what kind of time they have, and to come back to me for things to give them to do.
I am also pondering the merits of adding someone else to the team. This needs to be okayed by everyone. I think the gain outweighs both the loss to the potential player pool and the usual adding another cook issue, but it's definitely something to check with everyone.
mnemex does agree that DotM will not be ready by Intercon I. I'm hoping he can also work on writing the rules. He keeps saying that they are done.
zrealm and I keep saying stuff like "Okay, then re-write them to be comprehensible." Also, I think some things were decided after the draft we currently have, which means some things need updating.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to go through the characters, put down what could be sensed, list items, and also note known issues with given characters, from "Name that relative" to "Maybe like even mention the character's family, given that there are several members who are also PCs."
I also do want to write the world document, getting the history and religion and timeline all down in one place. This may be something to hand off to someone.
