Anyone not recognizing the quote (or possible misquote) who wants to know the source, let me know.

So, I was describing the setting of CthulhuTech and why I didn't think I could ever run it straight.

Me: It has mecha. Any system with mecha in it is going to be too crunchy for me.

It isn't that mecha per se would cease to be important to the game. It's just that how mecha are important (to the degree they would be) would change.

The quote is actually a melange of Bujold's "Labrynth" (Borders of Infinity p175: "It's now how much force you use. It's where you apply it.") and the Echoes Children song "How it is Applied", based on the self-same story.
