Break in

[livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I had our apartment broken into. We were quite lucky, the big annoyances being my stolen laptop, last backed up August 13, and the door. Like, there's this strip o'wood, with the locks, now inside the apartment. The cops were impressed, one of them saying that our lock placement was actually quite good, and that, well, we'd clearly remembered to use the locks.

Books and games were untouched. Well, mostly -- the envelope for Shab al-Hiri Roach was torn open, but the cards all seem to be there, and the roach is intact. One wonders what the person ripping open the envelope was expecting.

I think my jewelry is untouched. Well, very much touched, but intact. Interesting note for folks interested in accuracy or realism or something -- I actually don't know if any of my jewelry is missing. None of it's especially valuable, and I haven't worn most of it in years. I could easily be missing an earing and not know.

I'm either bouncing off the walls or about to crash. Not sure which.

I was very sorry to read about the break-in, especially on top of the work stress and parental health issues you mentioned last week. I hope the rest of the year is better for you.
