Upcoming DexCon and DotM progress

Straightjackets Optional is hard at work on Hot Tub Full of Magic, our second Hot Tub larp, to be run on Saturday, July 15, 9 am - noon at DexCon. Still got my bathing suit from last time.

I've signed up for games after that.

I'm hoping to pick up another copy of Shab al-Hiri Roach, this one for [livejournal.com profile] womzilla, and I'm hoping Dictionary of Mu will be out. I also want another copy of Primetime Adventures so I can send it to Lee Gold.

Meanwhile, I'm working on Donal for DotM and in so doing have made him smarter and made another character's life more difficult. I've also thought of something else for Anne to have on her character sheet.

Have also discovered that one particular group of characters kind of didn't get updated to reflect that one of the characters is, um, in the group. Bit of a problem, that.

And, one of these days, we'll actually box Jamais Vue and Hot Tub 1 (Roman Bathes). Hey, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex, can you set up something on the wiki so we can upload what we think are the most current files for those? Bathes is not that hard to box, right? JV is more of a challenge.

Er...what's not set up? Just upload the files under appropriate names (JV::filename, Bathes:filename, etc) and link to them appropriately.

How much handholding do I need to do here? (serious question)

Oh, note one seriously cool wikifile trick I discovered accidentally -- like when creating pages, if you link to a file (Image:filename) before you upload it, clicking on the link allows you to upload the file under that name. So you can set up your structure in advance, make sure it looks right (no accidental project-less names, etc), then upload the files straight into those names rather than having to remember what you named them.

So the order is:

1. Make a link to the other games on the main sjoptional page.
2. Click on it.
3. Make links [[Image:Bathes:filename]] to the various files you intend to upload under a game.
4. Click on each one, upload the file into it.

Sound ok?

Also, I'm a bit mixed on how much of the game development we want to do in binary tools, and how much would be made substantially more easy if we just did it in wiki (allowing better diffing and faster edits) and did postconversion to whatever binary formats we wanted later.

This would obviously be better if we had csv or whatever wiki tools -- I'll look for them.

If Dictionary isn't out until Gencon, I can snag you a copy there.
