Okay, we managed to get together, watch Call of Cthulhu, and generate PCs for Beyond the Mountains of Madness. Anyone know the authors' edress? I have a couple of questions about some late game specifics. (Will fake as needed, but if I can ask, I am curious.)

We agreed that we want cinematic levels of GM fiat, i.e., bumping off PCs in a down-in-flames sort of way is fine, but having PCs dying in boring, meaningless ways is not. (That, after all, is what NPCs are for.)

I'm giving 2 fudge points, aka re-rolls, for the campaign, borrowing that from the Cardiff run. We used a quickly improvised points build for stats, with Appearance taken out of the pool so as not to be used as a dump stat. And, I gave folks 20 free DIM points, aka Didn't I Mention I Had X Skill? [livejournal.com profile] jlighton calls his "Oh yeah, that."

[livejournal.com profile] mnemex just helped me set up a wiki, where we can put character sheets, background material, et cetera. Hm, once set up to allow it, folks can upload pics of their PCs, or say what actor's playing them, or whatever.

DIM Skills

Are one of the best things you can add to a campaign like this one - not only is it a easily remembered and only mildly cinematic mechanic, but once the PCs are in the Arctic there's really no way to call in outside help to get, say, lockpicking or photo analysis.

Are you letting them split the points up between DIM skills (10% here, 5% there) or do they have one extra to be named later skill at +20%?
